Graz Airport
Graz Airport has been operating for more than a century and is the oldest commercial airport in Austria. Nine airline companies, including Air Berlin, Austrian Airlines and Lufthansa, mostly fly to Italy, Greece, Germany and Great Britain. In summer months, they expand their destination list to Spain, the Cape Verde Islands and Scandinavia. Graz Airport also has good connections with connecting flights to destinations in Western Asia, China, Japan, Thailand, USA, Canada and Mexico.
Getting around
Graz Airport is a smaller airport and it is open from 6 a.m. to 11.30 p.m. In case any plane takes off before or after the opening hours, the airport opens two hours before the scheduled flight and closes after the landing. On the ground floor, there are the Arrivals and Departures areas, the Departures border control and a children's playroom. On the first floor, you can find a restaurant and a bar for departing passengers. You can also find a cash machine, a Spar grocery store and a tourist information office inside the airport building.
Wi-Fi
Next to the big clock in the Departures area, there are three stationary computers with web access. Graz airport also offers a free Wi-Fi service via Wireless-LAN-Network.
How to reach the airport and where to park
Graz Airport is reachable from the A9 highway if you are driving from Slovenia or the A2 highway if you are driving from Graz. There are more than 1,000 parking spaces next to the airport, but as it is custom at small airports, parking fees are quite high. A one-week parking will cost you almost EUR 120.
When to arrive at the airport
Graz Airport is located outside of Graz city, so city traffic jams will not be your concern. The airline companies advise you to arrive at the airport two hours prior to the scheduled flight, but you should be able to complete all the airport procedures in an hour and a half, especially if you are flying with hand luggage only.
